POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for general oversight of the HIMs daily workflow anddaily monitoring and supervision of the HIMs coding staff. The position hasdirect responsibility for both internal and external coders, vendor managementand compliance auditing of coding.
Education: CCS required and RHIT or RHIA, or equivalent educational experience
Experience: Minimum of 3 years Management Experience in the Health Information Management Field.
Knowledge and Skills: Coding and HIM concepts experience andexpertise, as well as HIM coding practices and procedures. Strong leadershipand management skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to lead and direct the work of others, and manage multiple prioritiesand tasks. Proficient with technology including electronic records, various HIMand coding applications as well as standard tools (e.g., Microsoft Outlook andExcel). Capacity to manage and communicate at all levels, including clericalstaff, physicians and administration.
License/Certifications: CCS Certificate required with RHIT or RHIA preferred. CDIP and CHDA AHIMA Certification and ICD-10 certified trainer preferred.
Equipment: ICD-10 Certified Trainer, CDIP AHIMA Certification; CHDA AHIMA Certification
