POSITION SUMMARY: The role of Senior Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer involves the supervision of the operation and quality of the Ultrasound scanning function. Assumes responsibility for designated areas, procedures, and supervision of staff Ultrasound technicians and sonographers.
Education: An individual who has completed a program in ultrasound.
Experience: At least three years experience which should include General, OBGYN, Small Parts, and Vascular Ultrasound. Minimum of 1 year management experience required.
Knowledge and Skills: The sonographer must have an understanding of anatomy and basic pathology associated with exams being performed. Is able to evaluate situations and recognize potentialproblems. Can make sound judgments in taking or suggesting preventative measures and able to follow through with decisive action.
License/Certifications: An individual who holds and maintains (via continuing education credits) current certification from the A.R.D.M.S. in multiple areas, and current Healthcare Provider CPR card.
Equipment: The sonographer should be knowledgeable of the ultrasound equipment and ancillary accessories needed to perform basic and special procedures. Personal computer.
