For the safety of patients, visitors, and our staff, we ask that you observe the following guidelines.
Physicians and employees wear photo identification badges while they are in the hospital or at off-site hospital locations. Please do not hesitate to ask anyone entering your room for their photo identification.
San Antonio Community Hospital is a non-smoking facility. You and your visitors may not smoke anywhere in the hospital. Smoking is permitted in designated areas on the hospital grounds. Ask your nurse or hospital staff to direct you to the most convenient designated smoking area.
Please notify your nurse upon admission to the hospital if you bring in any electrically-powered patient equipment, such as a personal computer, radio, or electric shaver, so that one of our biomedical technicians can conduct a inspection to ensure the safety of our patients, staff, and facilities.
The switchboard is our main communication center. Dial "8911" to report an emergency. Tell the operator who you are, where you are calling from, and the nature of the emergency. In the event of fire or smoke, please stay calm and listen carefully to the instructions of your nurse. Fire alarms will sound in a large area around the location of the problem and fire doors will close automatically. Our staff tests equipment and practices fire safety drills on a routine basis.
The visitor parking lot is located on the east side of the hospital. Please do not leave your vehicle in the parking lot while you are hospitalized, since the hospital assumes no liability for theft or damage. A family member or friend should arrange for your transportation to and from the hospital. During construction, for safety and convenience, patients and visitors are encouraged to use our free valet service 24 hours a day 7 day a week. Please follow directional signage to our valet attendants.
Security officers are available to escort you to the hospital's parking lots. You may arrange for this service by contacting the hospital operator by dialing "0" from any hospital telephone or by asking a staff member to assist you.
Because cellular phones and other wireless communication devices may interfere with certain safety alarm systems, patient monitoring or life support equipment, please restrict usage to the cafeteria and lobby areas. Our patient rooms are not cell phone safe areas. We request you turn cell phones to the "off" position to avoid a potential hazard.
