The
original site of our non-profit Hospital was at the corner of San
Antonio
Avenue and Arrow Highway in Upland. In 1924, the Hospital moved to
its current campus at 999 San Bernardino Road. The impetus for the
construction
of the new Hospital was a donation by Frances
Mary Paul. This spirit of giving has sustained the expansion of
the Hospital's facilities and services. In 1972, The
San Antonio Hospital Foundation was established to solicit community
support to further the mission of the Hospital.
In 1962, the Hospital underwent a major expansion, which increased
the bed capacity by 130. In the fall of 1996, we opened a 42,000 square
foot, three-story medical office building adjacent to the Hospital.
A twenty-bed Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) project expanded
the main Hospital in late 1996. The NICU accommodates the specialized
needs of infants born at San Antonio Community Hospital.
The opening of Rancho
San Antonio Medical Center in 1990 once again demonstrated the Hospital's
response to a growing community, this time in Rancho Cucamonga. The
Center provides a wide selection of healthcare services, along with
physician office space.
In the spring of 1997, the Hospital completed a helipad certified
by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). It is used by local emergency
service transportation agencies to transport patients to and from the
Hospital 24 hours a day.
Today, as a 283-bed hospital, San Antonio offers
a wide range of medical and surgical services.
