We Support Breastfeeding - Before, During, and After
Our staff understands the positive impact that breastfeeding has on
infant bonding, as well as its proven nutritional value for babies.
That's why we've designed a program and trained our staff at all levels
to assist those of you who have chosen breastfeeding - before your baby
is born, during hospitalization, and after you go home.
Breastfeeding Class
We offer a class to prepare you and your coach for this life experience.
In-hospital Breastfeeding Support
Our Lactation Consultants and Educators are available to assist
you while you are hospitalized.
Walk-in Breastfeeding Clinic
We offer a walk-in breastfeeding clinic that is open four days
each week to provide assistance and support to breastfeeding mothers. The clinic is held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at our Family
Care Center at the 1125
Building.
We have found that the majority of the mothers who visit our
Family Care Center have continued to breastfeed. We collect
data to measure success and to help us respond to the needs of the
community. This is a free service operated by the Healthy Beginnings
Family Care
Center.
The Family Care Center is funded by Perinatal Services Network through
a grant from First
5 San Bernardino The program
became fully operational in March of 2001. First 5 funding is made
possible through Proposition 10, a California voter initiated tobacco
tax.
