The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides specialized care to patients
14 years of age and older, who are critically ill or who require intensive
monitoring around the clock. We recognize the need to care for the body,
mind, and spirit of every patient, and the importance of extending this
care to families and loved ones, as well.
Using
state-of-the-art equipment, our specially trained ICU team provides
intensive care with respect and compassion. Our team consists of physicians
of various specialties, specially trained nurses, dieticians, laboratory
technicians, physical therapists, radiology technicians, respiratory
therapists, social workers, clergy, speech therapists, and bioethicists.
Having a loved one in an ICU can be an overwhelming experience. The
environment can be intimidating with equipment and alarms all around.
Recognizing this, we encourage you to ask questions and our team will
strive to help you understand what is happening to your loved one.
Visitors must be 14 years of age and older. A maximum of two visitors
at one time may visit ICU patients for 15 minutes out of the hour, except
between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. and between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
This allows the nursing staff time to provide necessary care and to
establish periods of uninterrupted rest for the patient. Individual
family circumstances are important to us and we encourage our patients
and their families to communicate their needs.
