Maternity and Parenting Classes
We encourage our patients to contact us early in their pregnancy to take advantage of the full series of classes. Call (909) 980-BABY (980-2229).

  • Maternity Tour
    Couples considering delivering at San Antonio Community Hospital are encouraged to attend a tour of the Maternity Unit.

  • Sibling Class
    For siblings ages 3 - 10 who are expecting a new baby.

  • Prepared Childbirth (LaMaze) Class
    Learn basic breathing and relaxation techniques and what to expect when you are in labor. Refresher classes are also available.

  • Cesarean Birth Class
    Learn why a cesarean section might be necassary and how to recover after surgery.

  • Breastfeeding Class
    This is a prenatal class. We also offer a free walk-in breastfeeding clinic for new moms through our Healthy Beginnings Family Care Center.

  • Infant Care
    Learn about the characteristics of newborn and physical care.

  • Life Saver Class
    Infant/child CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation).

  • NuParent Class
    Parents and baby attend class together. This class is available at two levels: infants and toddlers.

  • Parenting Preemies
    Promotes positive parent/infant interaction and optimal early development of the premature baby.

  • Moms Embracing the Moment
    A childbirth educator, who specializes in postpartum issues, assists new moms make the transition into parenthood. Mom and new baby attend this 5-week program together.

Healthy Heart Series

  • Healthy Heart
    Presents an overview of health risk factors, including hypertension, smoking, obesity, high cholesterol, lack of exercise, and stress. The structure and function of the heart and good health practices for the prevention of heart disease are also discussed.

  • Blood Pressure Control and Medications
    Signs and symptoms of high blood pressure, causes, who is at risk, diagnosis, treatment, possible complications, and prevention are reviewed. Cardiac medications are discussed including the purpose, administration, and side effects.

  • Congestive Heart Failure
    The definition, signs, symptoms, causes, prevention, and treatment of heart failure are provided, as well as safety guidelines related to daily activity and exercise.

  • Exercise and Your Heart
    The benefits of exercise for mind and body are presented. Exercise training techniques, avoiding injury, and formulating and following a home exercise program are discussed.

  • Nutrition
    Discusses nutrition, including healthy cholesterol and weight levels, choosing and preparing healthy meals, and recipe modification.

  • Stress Management and Your Heart
    Behavior modification, coping with stress, identifying the causes, treatment, and prevention of stress, as well as stress reduction and relaxation techniques are presented.

  • Adult Bereavement Support Group
    for adults experience grief and adjusting to life after the loss of a loved one.

  • Caring Hearts Support
    Volunteers offer support for individuals who have experienced a cardiac event.

  • Moms Embracing the Moment
    A childbirth educator, who specializes in postpartum issues, assists new moms make the transition into parenthood to help build healthier families in our community. Mom and new baby attend this 5-week program together.

    For NICU families with special needs.
