Overview
San Antonio Community Hospital offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient physical, speech,
and occupational therapy to patients of all ages and
diagnoses.
Rehabilitation can often be a challenge, not only to the body as it
repairs itself, but also to the human spirit. We understand your hurdles
and we are here to offer treatment, guidance, education, and support.
We help a variety of patients, many of whom are recuperating from injuries
or surgery, such as total joint replacement, joint injury, sprains or
strains, back and neck injuries, arthritis, lupus, stroke, sciatica,
progressive neuromuscular disorders, burns, open wounds, and diabetes.
Team Approach
The rehabilitation team is comprised of you, your family, our therapists,
and your doctor. This approach allows the team flexibility to adjust
to each patient's unique circumstances, while maintaining regard for
the patient's dignity and independence.
Special
Programs
Special programs are offered for progressive wound care, neonatal intensive
care, sports medicine, incontinence, hand injuries, balance and vestibular disorders, industrial rehabilitation, neuro rehabilitation, fitness craniosacral therapy and lymphatic
drainage especially for post mastectomy patients.
Patients having total hip or total knee surgery at San Antonio Community
Hospital may attend a preoperative class instructing them in exercises,
gait training, precautions, and what to expect after surgery. This
class is a free community service.
Speech and occupational therapy are also available for all ages. The speech pathologists not only treat speech and
swallowing problems, but also conduct video-swallow evaluations in conjunction
with Radiology.

must come to the Department for hydrotherapy or other procedures that
