Cardiac Recovery
A cardiac incident like a heart attack may result in open heart surgery,
angioplasty, or pacemaker implantation. Patients who are placed
in the
Coronary Care Unit (CCU) or Cardiac Step Down Unit (CSDU) following
treatment are carefully evaluated by the Cardiac Rehabilitation Team.
A three-phase
recovery program, which includes physical activity, nutrition management,
and stress management, is tailored for each patient.
A multidisciplinary approach by the staff ensures that you and your
family receive appropriate education, support, and encouragement. A
nurse specialist will explain the program and identify the cardiac risk
factors which can affect your recovery.
