For the safety of patients, visitors, and our staff, we ask that you
observe the following guidelines.
Photo Identification Badges
For the safety of our patients and staff, physicians and employees wear
photo ident
ification
badges while they are in the Hospital or at off-site Hospital locations.
Please do not hesitate to ask anyone entering your room for their photo
identification.
Smoking
Policy
San Antonio Community Hospital is a non-smoking facility. You and your
visitors may not smoke anywhere in the Hospital. Smoking is permitted
in designated areas on the Hospital grounds. Ask your nurse or Hospital
staff to direct you to the most convenient designated smoking area.
Electrical Equipment Brought Into the Hospital
For the safety of our patients and staff, all electrically powered
patient equipment used within the Hospital must have an incoming
safety inspection. Examples
may include personal computers, radios, or electric shavers. If you
bring any such device into the Hospital, please notify your nurse
upon
admission to the Hospital. Our biomedical technicians will perform
the inspection in a timely manner.
Reporting an Emergency
The switchboard is our main communication center. Dial "911"
to report an emergency. Tell the operator who you are, where you are
calling from, and the nature of the emergency. You will find a sticker
with this emergency number "911" affixed to all telephones
in patient rooms.
In the event of fire or smoke, our staff is trained to follow universal
fire procedures. Please stay calm and listen carefully to the instructions
of your nurse. Fire alarms will sound in a large area around the location
of the problem and fire doors will close automatically. Our staff tests
equipment and practices fire safety drills on a routine basis.
Parking Lot
A visitor parking lot is located on the east side of the Hospital. You
are encouraged not to leave your vehicle in the parking lot while you
are
hospitalized,
since the Hospital assumes no liability for theft or damage. A family
member or friend should arrange for your transportation to and from
the Hospital.
Designated parking spaces are located near the Hospital entrance for
disabled individuals and for physical therapy outpatients for whom walking
is difficult.
Parking Lot Escort Service
Security officers are available to escort you to the Hospital's parking
lots. You may arrange for this service by contacting the Hospital operator
by dialing "0" from any Hospital telephone or by asking a
staff member to assist you.
Cell Phones
Because cellular phones and other wireless communication devices
may interfere with patient monitoring equipment, please restrict usage
to the cafeteria and lobby areas except our maternity lobby. Our patient
rooms and maternity lobby are not cell phone safe areas. We request
you turn cell phones to the "off" position to avoid a potential
hazard.
